Does Your CV Represent the REAL You?

January 23, 2017

As a healthcare staffing firm, we have had the pleasure of reviewing thousands of CVs over the years. Some are fantastic... Some, not so much. But you may ask yourself, "Why is creating a professional, error-free CV so important? Doesn't my years of practice experience speak for itself?"

While practice experience is very important, so is your ability to represent yourself in a professional manner. Our client's very first impression of you comes when we submit your CV. A well-built, thorough CV leaves a fantastic impression. On the other hand, a CV that is poorly constructed with misspellings, grammatical errors, and omissions (particularly with work history!) may result in a less-than-ideal first impression.

Still not convinced? Consider it from the client's point of view: They may ask, "Does this candidate pay attention to detail? Will they also make errors when charting? Can we rely on this candidate to be the whole package, or are they only interested in the bare minimum?" Put yourself in their shoes!

Just remember: Your CV is a representation of YOU! You have spent years studying and practicing in the medical field - why not show it off by spending just an hour or two creating a spectacular CV?

The AAFP provides great tips on building an effective CV. Check out the details HERE. And if it all seems like too much, don't become frustrated! There are a plethora of resources available to you (including templates!) to help you build a CV, no matter your comfort level.

So, what do you think? How important is a CV? Let us know in the comments section below!
